Individual Note:
I would say that La Martine is the original spelling, but I suspect that because of time, education, etc., the name was later recorded as Lame(a)rtine in other records.
I located L.J. Morrow and Harriet B. Morrow with their son, La Martine (age 2) in the 1850 Federal Census. They were living in Finley Township, Greene County, Missouri.
In 1860 Census the family was in Buena Vista, Stanislaus, California (near La Grange):
LJ Morrow 34 Born Tenn.
Harriet B. 29 Ky
Newton L. 11 Mo
Augustina N. 9 Mo
Wm L. 7 Mo
Robt P. 5 Mo
James M. 3 Mo
Juliana 1 Cal
Also living with them:
John Tipton 16 A
Mary A. Morrow 22 Ala
Michael Beard 45 Ohio
(My guess is that John Tipton and Mary A. Morrow are possibly nephew and niece to L.J. and Harriet).
(Juliana does not show up in later census, so that might mean she died before she was 11).
(Interestingly,Michael Beard is still living with them in the next census of 1870).
This Information Obtained From: Charlotte Robbins 11/15/2006 bobandchar%*&$#starstream.net.
In 1870 Census the family of L.J. Morrow and Harriet is in Douglas Township, Stockton, San Joaquin Co., California.
Morrow, L.J. 44
Harriet 39
Newton 21
Narcisse 19 (Must be Augustina N.)
Wm L. 17
James 15 (James and Robert were transposed from the previous census).
Robert P. 13
John 8 Born Cal.
Joseph 4 " "
Jesse 2 Jessie was listed as "male", but this has to be Jessie May.
Also living with them:
Morrow, Mary 20 Born Mo. (Well, this must be a different Mary from the previous census)
Joiner, Absalom 27 Born ILL.
Beard, Michael 56 Born Ohio.
The Joiner above got my attention, because that is where my great grandfather was from, and as I mentioned before, he (Willis Abner Joiner) married Newton L. Morrow's wife, Mary Janes', sister.
ANYWAY, I listed all the names and birthdates so you can add them to your records for the Morrows. Jessie May's birthdate needs to be corrected to abt 1868.
This Information Obtained From: Charlotte Robbins 11/15/2006 bobandchar%*&$#starstream.net.
In the 1880 Census L. J. Morrow has a new wife and is living in Kaweah-Mineral King area in Tulare Co., Calif.
Morrow, Lafayette J. 55 Indicates his father was born in Ala. (no state listed for mother).
Emily 35 Born in Canada, as were both her parents.
Living with them:
John M. 19 Cal.
Joseph E. 14 Cal.
Jessie May 12 Cal.
Assuming they were referring to the mother of these children, Harriet, it was stated that she was born in Ala.; however, the previous census records, which were when she was around, said "Ky". Kentucky is probably the birthplace for Harriet.

Newton, as shown in your genealogy, was the brother of Jessie May Morrow and son of Lafayette Jackson Morrow. Several years ago I researched the "California Mother Lode Records for San Andreas, Calaveras County, California", compiled by Edith Jensen in 1963. I found records of the births of two of his children in Volume II containing Births 1856 to 1925. On Page 51 are found the following births (spellings as shown in compilation list):
Name Age Place of Birth Date Code
MORROW, Jame McClain Milton (California) Nov. 17, 1875 14-174
f. Newton Lamertine Morrow 27 Ozark, Missouri
m. Mary Jane Eubanks 25 Ozark, Missouri
MORROW, Roy Chetwynd Milton Dec. 18, 1872 13-451
f. Newton Larmartine Morrow 24 Ozark, Missouri
m. Mary Jane Eubanks 22 Ozark, Missouri
I also found the family with more children in the 1880 census for Kaweah and Mineral King, Tulare, California. Rather than trying to type it all, I will try to pick the record up again at Ancestry.com and e-mail a copy to you.
My mother recalled that she was told that the Morrows and the Eubanks came to California on the "Morrow Wagon Train", probably out of Missouri--possibly also with the Gann and Church families. I believe they came out somewhere around 1855 or 1856. Thomas Gann was listed as the step-father of my great-grandmother when she got married in 1873 in San Andreas.

Description:
This database is an index to 50 million individuals enumerated in the 1880 United States Federal Census. Census takers recorded many details including each person's name, address, occupation, relationship to the head of household, race, sex, age at last birthday, marital status, place of birth, parents’ place of birth. Additionally, the names of those listed on the population schedule are linked to actual images of the 1880 Federal Census.
Milton is in Calaveras County, off of Highway J14 out of Stansilaus County. It's between Jenny Lind to the north and Copperopolis to the south. The county seat of Calaveras County is in San Andreas.
Newton and Mary Jane must have been living in Milton, at least, between 1872 and 1875, when the two boys, James McClain and Roy Chetwynd, were born. Then later they moved to Tulare County.
Newton, as shown in your genealogy, was the brother of Jessie May Morrow and son of Lafayette Jackson Morrow.
